These diaries give details of employment of staff, documents received and issued by the Dept. and remarks about the proceedings of each day. The first diary was commenced at sea aboard The Parmelia. The first two volumes are described as Proceedings of the Dept. & a second sequence, commenced in 1830, is described as Diaries of Proceedings. The same information is provided, but in a slightly different format. Item 259 is the diary of proceedings, Albany office, which was kept by Asst. Surveyor A. Hillman.
