Scope and content

The indexes to appeals files contain the appeal number, the date of the appeal, the reference number to the State Planning Commission, the appealant's name, the land location, the local authority involved and a precis of the decision made. Before 1982, seperate volumes were kept for metropolitan and country locations and this is how they have been filmed. Also before 1982, the appellant's name was indexed at the front of each volume and the local authority involved was indexed at the rear of each volume. In 1982, a combination of cards and volumes were used to index the planning appeal files. Appellant's names continued to be indexed in a volume, whilst appeal files and relevant local authorities were indexed on cards. As from 1983, seperate but related volumes were used to index the appeals files by i) appeal number (Numerical index) and ii) the Local Authority involved in the appeal (Local Authorities index).
